Position Summary
The Program Coordinator supports the daily operations of River City Youth’s community-based programs and supporting outreach efforts. This position plays a key role in implementing youth programming and helping to build meaningful connections between RCY, families, and community partners.
The ideal candidate is community-minded, organized, and skilled at balancing hands-on program and event support with behind-the-scenes coordination. They thrive on collaboration, communicate clearly, and bring creativity and follow-through to their work.
This role works closely with the Executive Director and Engagement Navigator and will contribute to a small, high-impact team working toward a shared vision for youth and community growth.
Key Responsibilities
1. Youth Programming Implementation (60%)
Support delivery of seasonal youth programs such as the Agriculture Internship, Bike Bus, Outdoors Club, and community service projects.
Maintain safe, inclusive, and engaging program environments.
Build positive relationships with youth participants, families, and partners.
Provide feedback to help refine and improve future program offerings.
2. Community Events Coordination (30%)
Plan and lead seasonal community events such as volunteer workdays, garden clean-ups, and outreach events such as the annual Earth Day Block Party.
Maintain connections with local colleges, service clubs, and community groups to expand program and event awareness.
Ensure volunteer records and hours are tracked accurately.
Coordinate logistics for community events (permits, supplies, partner tables, communications, etc.).
3. Communications & Administrative Support (10%)
Design and draft content for RCY’s newsletter, social media posts, and program flyers using tools such as Canva and Network for Good.
Collect photos, stories, and program updates to share RCY’s impact with our community.
Maintain program documentation and assist with data tracking for grants and reports.
Support general office operations as needed in a small, collaborative team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred AA degree or a minimum of 2 years of work experience in youth or community-based programming
18+ Years Old
Familiarity with social media management or digital content creation (Canva, Network for Good, etc.).
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Excellent written and verbal communication.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a small team.
Commitment to equity, inclusion, and community-centered work.
Additional Requirements
Frequent standing and walking for extended periods, particularly during programs, events and community activities.
Must pass a criminal background check in accordance with RCY policy and applicable state law.
Ability to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends for events or youth programming.
Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions.
Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds occasionally (e.g., event materials, supplies).

The Program and Outreach Coordinator must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
