About our board of directors:
River City Youth’s Board helps guide the vision and sustainability of our work. Board members bring their skills, networks, and passion to support youth programs rooted in community, job training, and growing food. Together, we shape strategy, strengthen partnerships, and ensure long-term impact.

Passion for at least one of the following: youth development, youth engagement, job training, education, health equity, or community building.
Experience in Human Resources (HR) and/or organizational development.
Understanding of issues facing diverse communities, including how intersecting identities shape lived experiences. Leadership and/or significant professional experience.
Ability to generate support for River City Youth’s mission—this could include fundraising, sponsorships, community connections, or partnerships with artists, grassroots organizers, or local organizations.
Familiarity with the nonprofit sector (like serving on a board of directors), funding landscapes (philanthropy, education, or related), and asset-based community development.
Connection to West Central Spokane or surrounding neighborhoods—either as a resident or through a commitment to learning their history, resources, and community priorities.
Time Commitment:
Board members attend bi-monthly board meetings, with in-person and virtual meeting options. Board service may equate to approximately 5 to 15 hours per month. This is a volunteer position; funding is available for travel expenses and continuing education. Board members participate in an annual strategic retreat for organizational accountability.
